Bathroom Extension

It was 1993 and time to revisit the 15 year old master bathroom. The kitchen had been modernized and expanded. The entry foyer was reworked and the front sunroom/small koi pond was added. With the addition to the master bedroom, the master bath was now too small. Since I removed an exterior bearing wall when I installed the bedroom sunroom, why not remove another one and extend the bathroom 6 feet to the south. Thankfully, I originally used scissor trusses for the vaulted ceiling effect so there were no other bearing walls to deal with.

This time I wanted a real walk-in closet. To do this, I removed one of the two small original closets and moved the double doors down. This allowed me to expand into the hallway space. It did require moving the utility room's access door from this hallway into the bathroom, a good thing. To continue another theme which began when I remodeled the entry foyer, I used glass block around the new double shower and over the built-in bed letting natural light into this larger closet. A nice Jacuzzi tub, a makeup area and a double vanity [which offered privacy, especially in the morning, LOL] completed the design. I did change the carpet as it was 15 years old and mauve was now in. I had to live with it until 2001! Finally, I replaced the exterior cedar siding with stucco which I began with the addition of the front sunroom / koi pond.
